You will get both normals het pied and spiders het pied, not just spiders het pied.

    Re: spider and pied

Wow, I should just stick to my firefly clowns and stop trying to talk about other morphs, because clearly that's all I can think about right now. My apologies for being a doofus.

This pairing (spider x pied) is interesting in light of the other thread about spider gene being dominant vs. co-dominant. If it's simple dominant, a homozygous spider x piebald will give all spiders. If it's co-dominant with a lethal homozygote, a spider x piebald will give spiders and normals, because the parent spider would need to be heterozygous for spider.
Would you breed a wobbler dog even though it had a cool coat?

Just realized that a heterozygous simple dominant spider will give you normals too, so scratch that idea.

To the original poster, sorry for being confusing in your thread!

    Re: spider and pied

So, your talking about the Spider het Piebald x Piebald offspring, right?

Well, I'm pretty sure you'd get poss hets (normals & Spiders), Pieds, Spiders, Normals, and Spider Pieds (Spieds). Anyone correct me if I'm wrong with the outcome of the offspring, but I'm pretty sure that's what you get.

    Wow!

Spider x Pied = Spiders and Normals that are 100% het Pied.

Spider 100% het Pied x Pied = Spider Pieds, Pieds, Spiders 100% Het Pied and 100% Het Pieds.

No, nothing will be poss hets when breed to a pied. every het will be 100% het for pied.

This thread is confusing as hell.

    Re: spider and pied

Wow with all this information that is very misleading I am surprised anyone can work thoguht it...

As stated already the 100%fact off spring would be as follows

Spider x Pied = Het pieds and Spider Het pied

Spider Het pied x Pied= Pieds, Spider het Pied, Het Pied and Spider Pied.

Those are the only possible outcome without having some mysterous hidden gene. Now is that any guarantee as to what you will get out of the eggs??? Nope none at all you could get all spider pieds or all het pieds or any combination of above stated poss. babies.

    Re: spider and pied

    Pied x Spider Het Pied

ALL offspring would be Het Pied

You would have 25% Pied Spiders, 25% Pieds, 25% Het Pied Spiders and 25% Het Pieds

There supposedly is no Homozygous form of the Spider as it is believed that they fail to develop as embryos.

    Re: spider and pied

Spieds (spider pieds) are all white with a spider head. It's strange, but that's what happens.
