If you pay for something and you do not receive anything...and the buyer doesn't produce a tracking number that says the package was delivered, then PayPal will usually refund you.

However, the problem comes when the scammer sends you any package at all. He could send you an empty box, and as long as he can show that he shipped a package to your PayPal address and it was delivered, then you probably won't get refunded.

That's how it seems to happen. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

As for the guy selling the snake, since he apologized and you really want the snake, I'd do the pic with current newspaper thing. If he follows through, then you're probably okay.

It sounds to me like pay pal doesnt have very good customer service?

Yeah I do really want/like the snake. its a pretty good looker.

Thanks Tim, but I am pretty new to many of these forums. I've been breeding snakes since the 80s but never really got involved on the internet. Chris is a quality guy and so are his snakes. He is very busy and sounds like you just caught him at a bad time.

If you like the snake you should buy it, you won't have any problems. If you want to check on me contact Brock, Roussis, Luman, etc.

Yep, they sent you a box. Whether it's empty or not doesn't really matter from Paypal's end. Who's to say they didn't send you exactly what they were supposed to, and now you're just trying to scam them and get something for free? It happens.

yeah. idk. thats messed up though. maybe they should weigh the stuff at the shipping facilitys. empty box = less then box + snake. or if they add junk... might be more. idk. pay pal doesnt seem worth much to me...

The only way you are covered is if you use a Credit Card through PayPal. If the animal doesn't get to you, you would be covered through your buyer's protection but honestly there are plenty of GREAT sellers out there- why go through the hassle for someone you're not feeling comfortable about?

On the other hand, I have also heard that, if the seller does not record any proof that they sent the item, the buyer could receive it, love it, file a PayPal complaint and get their money refunded for an item that they have now essentially stolen.

That's really only applicable to dry goods that can be sent USPS, though, because UPS and FedEx will always have tracking numbers (I think).
