Re: HELP PLEASE, female makes popping cracking noises when breathing

RI's can be highly contagious. A few years ago I almost lost my whole collection (about 15 snakes) to a horrible RI strand that a new snake had bought that I had in quarantine.

I'd be looking to be spending at least $100 at a herp vet. In the mean time, you can let the snake soak in some warm water with a top over the container. The warm humidity will help loosen up the mucus and help the snake breath a bit better till you can get it to a herp vet. As Robin said, your snake needs to see a vet to get treated from it's RI. RI's don't just go away.

Question Re: HELP PLEASE, female makes popping cracking noises when breathing

I'm a very new BP owner (3 weeks now). I read in a couple of previous posts that poor husbandry could lead to a respiratory infection. Is there anything in particular that is the most common cause? I'm just looking to learning all I can.

    Thanks!

Shedding has zero to do with the rattling you felt in her body. You need to get her seen by a vet ASAP.

Jim, humidity that's too low or too high, temps that are too cool. I like to keep my humidity at 50% at all times, even during shed. I keep a warm spot of about 90 degrees, and I don't allow my cool side to drop below 76 at the VERY coolest.
