Hand picked CH imports
Is anyone here working with hand picked CH imports? I found a importer which has some nice stock yet curious on the posibilities of the snakes actually having genetic traits. One is is fully striped yet unlike genetic striped BP it has more typical pattern on its sides. He also has some reduced pattern BPs with patterless bellys like yellowbellys. Have any normals been produced with these traits. I guess its a gamble and could be an interesting project.

there are many ppl that have ch imports. as for the genetics you have to pretty much figure when buy said animal its a cool normal and that is what you should base your willing to pay for. on the other hand there is some animals that prove out to be genetic, but typically they are not.
there are genetic black backs, granites, and many others that have been proven from the wild

For those to whom it is not a chore to write in readable English:
There are many people that have CH imports. As for genetics, figure they're all normals, not the gene-carriers you wish them to be, and pay accordingly. There are some imports that have proven to carry desirable traits, but not many.
Many traits have been proven out from imports.
Feels like I've been too long on the merry-go-round reading posts like the one quoted above.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

Actually, all morphs have been "proven from the wild."
Periodic Table Pythons - Quality, captive-bred pythons? It's elementary!
1.0 VPI Axanthic, 1.0 Genetic Stripe, 1.0 Red Axanthic, 1.0 Lesser Platinum, 1.0 50% Het Albino, 0.1 Albino, 0.1 Het VPI Axanthic, 0.1 Het Red Axanthic, 0.1 Het G-Stripe, 0.1 Woma, 0.1 Mojave, 0.1 Normal.

Re: Hand picked CH imports
Below is my opinion, so it's up to you to take it or not.
The cons of doing this : You import ball pythons that should have live in the wild, thus making the wild population smaller.
second : You have less chance of getting anything genetics from there. It did happen and might happen again. But think about it, in the farm, someone have already pass to look at them and see if there was anything interresting in it, if any there were removed. The person who imported them here, also looked at them and probably collected the interresting one. Then there can be some other person in between, and then you pass.
So what's the probability ?
Not none, but still low IMO.

Unless you're importing unhatched eggs you would have better odds playing the lottery than finding a new morph. All those WC hatchlings have been picked through numerous times.
