Snake mites require pressure on top of them to bite. So by squeezing between snake scales, they are able to bite into the skin. So unless it has snakelike scales, I don't think the mites will be able to bite it, and thus probably will not infest it. Of course it's best to kill them off anyway if at all possible.
I thought of this as well, but I wasnt sure if mites could get their back nerve triggered by getting into a leos eye.
