PAM crazy

Ok, I'm still waiting for the PAM to arrive to FULLY quarantine Pyrite.

I'm going to spray both of my snakes enclosure.

I was also thinking about switching tanks around, giving the 10 gallon (which has my Leopard Gecko ) to Pyrite (who has a 20 L),

My first question, Would PAM harm my leopard gecko?
Second Question, Would the mites harm my leopard gecko?

I would like to just play it safe, and spray all the tanks, but not if it harms my Leopard Gecko

I'm guessing no since its for "reptiles" as it says in the can. But one can never be too safe...

If you feed live insects to your gecko, then it will kill any crickets or mealworms that you put into your gecko's enclosure for up to 30 days after treatment. I would not recommend it.

So I won't spray his enclosure. Then I guess I can spray both of the snakes enclosures, wait thirty days, and switch (and clean) tanks then...

Or you could just clean the tank you want to use for the gecko with a bleach solution.

I take it that bleach can kill the mites? As well as the mites won't harm the gecko?

PAM is a contact treatment, I would also suggest spraying some PAM on a paper towel so its wet with it, and take that and wipe it on the rim of the 10 gallon tank. this will kill any mits that get in the tank because they have walked across it, and it will also kill the mites that are leaving the tank to lay their eggs. being a contact treatment like I said, this will not effect your leapard geckos food source.

I would also use the bleach solution to do cleaning as rabernet suggested.

The bleach will kill any mites that are in the enclosure, as well as thoroughly disinfect the enclosure.

Mites are pretty species specific - I can't say that I ever recall hearing of a leopard gecko with snake mites before.

Snake mites require pressure on top of them to bite. So by squeezing between snake scales, they are able to bite into the skin. So unless it has snakelike scales, I don't think the mites will be able to bite it, and thus probably will not infest it. Of course it's best to kill them off anyway if at all possible.

I thought of this as well, but I wasnt sure if mites could get their back nerve triggered by getting into a leos eye.
