You just rock. KUDOS to you! Id rather see a parent who is a FRIEND to their kids, than a parent who dosnt let their kids be who they are and accept the fact that... they will do what they want regardless. Who needs all that stress???

Not all lip tattoos are temporary. I don't know where this misinformation keeps coming from. Sometimes some spots will fall out or fade like any other tattoo. If it completely falls out your artist is not going deep enough. Mine is 10 years old and still as dark as the day I got it. I can think of at least 50 of my friends/customers that have them with no problems.

Can a T-artist actually control that? I know there was a guy in Red Deer... years back that all his tatts faded after about ten years - for that reason.
So could an artist push less hard on a lip tatt (or any other) to increase its chances of being pushed out in time?

Yes and no. The inner lip is a very weird spot to tattoo and a lot of artists won't even do it unless it's on friends. They could theoretically hang their needles out a small amount and not push and hope it only goes in a few layers BUT everyones body reacts different to being tattooed. A lot of lips do fade/fall out and it's usually from artists not going too deep the first time because they don't want to blow the tattoo out.

so he has some random lines in his inner lip LOL oh well... in another month he's going for his first tat on the back of his calf. nothing too big.
he had an appt for a tat earlier this year but decided against it. he wasn't 'certain' about getting it done and (very maturely) decided that until he was 100% certain he on what he wanted, he would wait.
i'm very proud of him. we do, of course, have rules about what he can get. i have to approve of it. i have to be there. he can only get a tat done by my artist (as i love and trust nigel 100%) and it must be on a part of his body that won't interfere with employment opportunities in the future. this is why the back of his thigh is a good place.
so... that's my little update for you all.
a kid in my school got an inner lip tattoo a few weeks ago maybe a month or two and its already starting to fad alot.
im hoping to get my first tattoo a day after my 18th birthday comming up.

This is exactly the sort of mother I love to see. I'm 14 with two parents just like you, and my best friend has restrictive parents like twistedtails seems to be, so I can offer a bit of insight: when a parent allows freedom of expression in things that don't matter much, the child will be SO much more likely to respect the parent's decision on things that DO matter.
Rebellious kids come from parents who restrict things like this, unique intelligent kids come from moms like you!
