Is it hard to keep a corn ?
Good day to you all !!
Guys n gals, I was thinking of having a cornsnake as my next pet (I own a BP already), but I'm kinda hesitate since from what i've been reading and told, corns are not that easy to keep, they regurg and stressed easily.
The temp at my place is between 27-31 Celcius (I live in a tropical zone, 2 seasons only)
Well my question is is it really that hard to keep a corn ?
Thanks
Jane

Re: Is it hard to keep a corn ?
No. They're easier to keep successfully than BPs, not that bps are hard.
Any snake can regurge, and any snake can be stressed. There's a reason why corns are probably the most popular 1st snake. They're quite easy to care for, aren't that strict in their requirements, are voracious eaters, not to large not too small as adults, tame, and come in literally hundreds of different morphs and combos.

Re: Is it hard to keep a corn ?
My corns are the easiest and most forgiving snakes I have. They are truly great eaters once they get started. Very small babies can be difficult to start, but none of mine have missed a meal since getting past that. They are curious when out and I think it makes them fun to handle. They come in fantastic paintjobs and are very inexpensive when it comes to morphs. I love em.

You have read lies. Corns are hands down the easiest snake to keep IMO.

Nope! Not at all, in keeping corns as a kid, they were the nicest, best eating, best shedding, most problem free pets I ever had.

On top of everything, corns are very tolerant of temperatures. You will find cornsnakes in places that go from 0C in winter to 40C in summer. Granted during the extremes they find shelter of sorts, but they have a wide temperature tolerance to accomodate seasonal changes.

Great way of putting it. All a corn need is a heat source, 2 hides, water, and food once a week. Simple and nothing special that needs to be done..

If your in the right area, you hardly need a heat source if the room/cage stays about 78-85F on it's own.
Very easy to keep, though I suggest getting a juvenile, they tend to pick up eating better and don't get nearly as stressed out.

Re: Is it hard to keep a corn ?
I keep the room pretty warm these days and I don't even keep additional heat. It's always over 80° and they eat shed and poop just fine. When I have to run the AC I put a secondary heat source on.

They're very easy. The day I got my girl, I fed her. No issues, nothing. She's very mellow, has her days (like everyone), but she's a great snake.

1.0 Golden Gecko; Smoothie
