We keep baby balls in 6qt tubs until the 1000 gram mark... then we transition them into their new racks (32qts). The bigger female breeders eventually go in the CB750 racks we use. It usually does cause them to go off feed for a while so we try to do this right after the breeding season, instead of before, so we have time to get them feeding well again before the next season.
SO basically, no matter what you do when you transition they will probably stop eating for a while... best thing to do is transition them, wait a couple weeks with absolutely no disturbances other than water changes, and then try offering food.
