Boxing Wooooo!
So I am starting to train for Boxing. I plan on training for a very long time before hitting the ring. Why you may ask. Simple. I don't want to go into the ring and get humiliated, that just does not work for me. Instead I'll spend more time training and being the best I can and then start matches. Any diet suggestions? Any tips to help be become great? I have always loved boxing and just because of all other the sports I do I did not have time to fit it in. Now that I quit a team I am ready to join something else. Wish me luck!

Diet... Just eat healthy... No junk food/fast food,etc.. Eat things high in protein plus oats for breakfast.. (Eggs & Oatmeal).. Mid morning snack, eat things like a granola bar, oatmeal, etc.. Lunch... Chicken, Tuna, (Lean Meats),.. If you are having a sandwich make sure to eat it with Whole Grain Bread!... Dinner.. Eat light... Rice, lean meats, a salad... And If you are going to do a bit of weight training (Good idea for boxing)... get some whey protein, and mix 1 scoop with milk and eat oatmeal+ a Banana 1 1/2 hours before your workout, and 2 scoops of protein in milk IMMEDIATELY (within 5-8 minutes) after your workout... Also, dont forget to add more fruits into the mix in there...
And to become great... TRAIN! Give it your all every time you train..
Good Luck!

Do not go longer then 4 hours between meals. It doesn't have to be a big meal just eat something healthy. If you go longer then 4 hours you body will start eating your muscle tissue and storing everything you ate as fat. (Catabolic state)
Do lots of Cardio and lift weights. With the weights do fast speed reps to help your fast twitch muscles.
Spend lots of time on speed bags.
I used to box and i miss it.

Re: Boxing Wooooo!
well i boxed for about 6 years, even boxed in front of about 1000 people in a fight called "tuesday night fights" at the Fat Cat, in modesto california....i did also train with weights but i never heard about it stunting your growth lol... then again im only 5'10" lol. we actually used to put 4lb weights that were made for ankles, on our wrists and hit the speed bag with them on. i boxed middle heavy so my weight was right around 203lbs usually but since then i stopped and pretty much do nothing, no working out, not even running any more.... im getting lazy in my old age lol
