New!! Pastel or Pastel PH axan.. Pastel PH axan ph caramel!!?

    Hey all,
Im brand new to ball pythons and im looking to buy my first ball python. Ive done tons of research and my favorite so far in my price range are Pastles. I found a few nice pastels that can be shipped to me for $115 and was pumped. But then i found some that could be shipped to me for $155 and one is Pastel PH axan and Pastel PH Axan PH Caramel. I guess my question is down the road im going to want to do an at home breeding project for my own collection only. Which would you go with and why. I know alot of this is personal preference just kinda wanna see what everyone else would do. Thanks much!

I personally would go with a pastel. You could then use the extra cash to buy a definite morph, for example a spider, cinny, or another pastel to eventually breed it to.

I would go with whichever pastel was nicer, but if they were both of similar quality I'd go for the poss het axanthic. For an extra $40 why not give it a try and hope you get lucky. Also, don't be afraid to make an offer on that poss het male.

    alrite, so choices are...

    morph
morph possible het for 1 morph
morph possible het for same morph + another

is it even a choice? more genetic potential with the last one

If this is your first BP, go with a visual morph or a normal. There are some really nice normals out there if you know where to look. Personally, I prefer normals to morphs. I like the natural colorings, especially if you find a nice dinker. (Which could also be associated in future breeding projects.)

But anyways, I'd say go with a really nice pastel, a really nice normal, or another visual morph like a spider, ghost, mojave, etc. Once you get a year or two of experience with the species and you decide you'd be interested in breeding at that point and you think you'd like to get into the hets, then go for it.

Personally, I don't have the patience to prove out possible hets. If I were to get into hets I'd go for the definite hets, but that's just me.

Technically, all the base morphs are naturally occurring. They all started off as dinkers for somebody

Back on topic- if its for your own collection, I'd pick whichever has the most appeal to you- if you like pastel caramels, or pastel axnathics, or whatever, go with the more expensive ones. If you don't especially like them, then save yourself a few bucks and go with the plain ol' pastel
