Hi,

Is the snake in the tub at the moment?

If it isn't could you try plugging the heatmat directly into the wall just to check it has the grunt to get the temps up to the required level?

What thermostat do you have and what kind of setting options does it give you?

Just saw you have a big apple herp thingy - is it set as high as it will go or have you set a specific temp or somehting. I've never seen one so do not know how they work.

thank you guys soo much for your help!...well its a zoo med 30 gallon and i have the BAH 1000sc ..its basically just a dial in ...i currently have it in this way

Plastic
Probe

and the snake is not in it at the moment

So is the dial as high as it will go?

I still think its best to have it this way.

yes but when i did that the probe would get TOO hot and even with it dialed all the way up it would only reach 88 F

Hi,

Hence my suggestion to make sure the heatmat can get the job done first - if it can then the thermostat simply doesn't have a wide enough range.

Trying to find a place to put the probe where it doesn't get heated as much by the matt is a tricky solution as it leads to other possible problems.

Couple of things to check first just to rule them out.

How and where are you measuring the temps (i.e. above or below the substrate, inside or outside the hide etc.)

How long are you leaving the temps to stabilise between changes?

If the worst comes to the worst can you get refunds/ replacements for either the thermostat or heat mat?

well the mat does get hot enough the probe is under the newspaper substrate
im also leaving the temos for around 45 minutes to an hour and im not sure if i can get one on the therm but im sure i can for the heat mat

Hi,

This might be a daft idea but put a hide over the place where the probe is.

In my system the hide traps some of the heat so you might be lucky.

The only other thing I can think of is getting a thermostat that has a higher top temp.

Anyone else got any ideas?

well so far i got the temps on the warm side up and it staying at a cozy 90-92F but the cold side is TOO low at 71 lol im sucha newb...

Hi,

Well it is possible to use a second UTH on the cool side connected to the thermostat through a dimmer switch or rheostat.

Or simply raise the room temp of course.
