I use 08SpiderMale#1, or 07PastelDHGhostPiedFemale#1. They are pretty long, but there is no confusing them.

Re: Whats the best ID code for your snakes?

The code I use for our stuff is (business name abrev.)-(animal)-(morph)(sex)(#). For the bussiness name I put GG which stands for Gecko Geeks. For animal in our case it would either be BP, LG(Leopard Gecko) or CG(Crested Gecko). For morph would be and abreviation, like for a spider I use SP. For sex I put either M or F. Then for #, here is and example. Say I have 5 Spiders, and Im making a card for the 4th I got (doesnt matter what order they are in), I would put this as there ID: GG-BP-SPM4. Does any of this make sense?

I don't bother with year as it is written on the feeding card but I normally do something like

    Bee F #1 or Past M #2

Nothing complicated cause once you get in to the codom hets and double hets the letters can be complicated like
09DPHSM#1 is just way to long for me

Re: Whats the best ID code for your snakes?

In my database I like to keep them organized by morph then year then sex so
I use the 3 to 4 first letter of the morph, year, sex , number

First 2006 pastel male would be Pas_2006M1, second would be Pas_2006M2 etc

Re: Whats the best ID code for your snakes?

For adults I do first three letters of morph (or of each morph in a multiple trait) then two numbers for the year, and 2 numbers for the ID with males even and females odd. So PAS0409 is a female pastel born in 04 and it's ID number was 09. For babies (since I'll sell most) I started doing first three letters year cx (x being the clutch #) and one letter for sex with a unique ID. So SPI09C1F1. A little convoluted but it works for me!
