That one is, regrettably, crap. Most of the stories I've heard about it involve the UTH still being too hot on the lowest setting. Since the Lutron has a slider, you have infinitely more control over the heating device.

I dont see any milky. Her eyes look fine. Idk maby she was just being weird. it might be because i havent handled her much yet. im not sure. she seemed to like exploring my bed though.
My bp shedding clues:
First it gets dull, then milky eyes, then blue eyes, then normal eyes but still dull, then it sheds. Takes about a week and a half to go all the way through.
Speaking of which My girl is about to shed.

Just watch out when you unroll her shed. They like to dump right in the middle of it sometimes.

Thats debatable...two snakes I have brought home have waited until they got home and were in a clean tub to take a dump. Ball pythons are notorious for taking dumps in freshly cleaned tubs

Re: Sheddage?
Poop huh!
One time I came home to a huge pile of poop in the corner of the take. And even more smeared up the side of the tank. Hell, there was so much poop half the glass was fogged over. It reaked. But I got it clean haha

Re: Sheddage?
I got a question..... If the uth is running too hot why would you need two heat sources? Also, since you are trying to go about this in the cheapest manner, why not just add depth to the substrate until the heat penetrating is at the proper temps? Maybe Im way off here but my UTH's run a constant temp all the time as my house temps stay fairly constant. The only real flucuation I have seen is when my A/C went out and then my house was at correct temps anyway just no cool side was possible. Like if ur snake burrows and u use a loose substrate, line the bottom of the tank with enough newspaper to keep burns from happening while ur snake is underneath the actual substrate you are using. Does that make any sense? Heat can only travel through so much material before it loses strength
As for the shed question. My prior two cbb BP's ate no matter what, the wc I had never ate but like twice a year so he doesnt count. My boa will eat durring deep shed. The BP I have now hasnt even been offered a prey item by myself so I dunno about him.

I dont need two heat sources. Originally I thought it was going to be the UTH to keep the low side warm, and the light for a hot spot. The temp on the substrate is PERFECT, but as someone pointed out they can burrow. At first i didnt think it would make a difference but then i stuck my hand on the glass under the substrate and it was pretty HOT.
Actually Iloveleucie63 was telling me to put a "cage carpet" under my substrate to work like that, but honestly i dont think it will work. It will get just as hot as the glass since its right next to it.
And if it looses all that heat going through paper it probably wont have enough to go through the substrate bark i have.
Im going to try feeding her today, im thawing a mouse right now, her eyes cleared up pretty good theyre not as grey as before theyre more black so im hoping she can see better and wants to eat. And hopefully she sheds soon too!

Re: Sheddage?
I probably missed it as this is a long thread but didnt see that idea thrown out there... Anyways, you just have to play with the layer levels until the top is proper and the lower is not to the extreme......It would work if you went that route. If you know the top is spot on, then use whatever you used to get that temp and put it directly on the glass to see where you are at and go from there....... Good luck with whatever way you end up going though.... Hope you dont have any feeding problems as it gets frustrating.....
