dehydration issue

Yeah, he looks exactly like my normal girl. Very pretty snake. Anyhow, I just wanted to say that you might want to post some pics of the set up, maybe someone can help see why he is avoiding the water bowl.

You can even soak them for HOURS in shallow warm water to help hydrate them better. Soaking for 10 to 20 minutes never helps with my animals. I ALWAYS soak em for 2 to 3 hours.

And he's NOT getting ready to shed?

I don't think he's dehydrated though, dehydration folds in the skin run PARALLEL with the snake, NOT HORIZONTAL.

i at first thought it was just a bad shed so i soaked him in shed ease a few days after i got him and got a bit of stuck shed off his head and thats when i noticed its not a shed prob. but im not as worried now that he is getting better now that i soaked him so ill just keep an eye on him. and no he dont have the green eye but his side color is a lot like that of a low quality pastel i just cant get pic that are worth a crap cuz of my camera is so old and bout to quit lol
ill just wait till he grows up and see if he turns out to be something other than normal

all pastels have green eyes

turns out he was going into shed i didnt think he was cuz the stuck shed on his head but it turns out that that was from a previous shed that didnt come off and his humidity was too low i got that fix and now hes soaking in the shed ease to help him get all of his shed off this time its just a relief that its not a dehydration issue like i thought

That's good, I'm glad he's fine.

But listen to folks here--if you bought him as a pastel, you got ripped off. He is definitely--as in, no question about it whatsoever--not a pastel.

His eyes are dark. Pastels have light eyes--greenish. Always.

His head is black/dark brown. Pastels have light heads. Always.

Pastels have a jungle body pattern.

He appears to be what is known as a 'reduced pattern' normal. Not a bad snake, and reduced pattern can be bred for and is in high demand, though I don't think it's been shown to be a specific gene.

Here is a picture of a darker pastel hatchling:



Although the eye is shadowed in this photo so you cannot tell that it is green--trust me, it is. You can clearly see how the top of the head is very light, and the body pattern is 'jungle'--aberrant and irregular.

Here is another pastel female, a yearling--again, you can see the large faded area on top of the head, and you can see that the eye is olive green--you can distinguish the pupil from the rest of the eye.
