Not necessarily, some of my snakes are pretty bad at striking so they miss the head and grab his butt, which makes the rat able to bring his head up and do some damage if your not paying attention. I always keep a pair of hemostats handy in case I need to restrain a rats head.

Is one mouse of slighly larger diameter than the snake enough or should I feed two?

the prey should be the girth of the snake. If its only slightly larger than im sure it would be fine just dont handle him for a couple of days as to prevent a regurge.

Man, there are so many different opinions. Some say the same diameter and some say slightly larger than the diameter of the thickest part pf the body. Some say one mouse and some say two.

If you had a scale you could go 10-15% of there bodywight but seeing as you probly dont have a scale than you should go with the girth of the snake and one is fine.

I can use my analytical balance or a triple beam when school starts again, but until then, I guess I'll just give him 1.
