Can I keep one under my bed? I know it's not a good idea to hide a snake from someone in the house, but my stepfather will not move on the idea and my mom says it's okay as long as she never gets blamed if he finds out. Which he won't; as my stepfather as a rule never EVER goes in my room.

I have a 30 qt container that fits under my bed no problem, and have a solid plan for getting food in without being noticed, etc. So the snake going without a home or getting kicked out is not an issue.

If the snake needs a day/night cycle, can I just put something like an LED light that creates no heat or fire hazard under there too?

If so, could I also reverse the day/night cycle, so he is most active during the day? It would be dark under the bed unless the light was on, so I could put the light on at night for his "day" if it's not a bad idea.

    Thanks in advance!
They dont really need a lot of light. Under the bed he'll still receive a little bit of daylight and that should be sufficient, because in the wild they spend most of their time in burrows underground anyway.

I have to say, I think that is said in extremely poor taste. And lest anyone get any wrong ideas about the fire that Bruce had to endure....HIS set up had absolutely NOTHING to do with starting it.

Yes - too soon. And Bruce's fire was not a result of his animals and how he housed them - it was a result of arson.

Edit: So that Qetu doesn't feel that Judy and I are double teaming him - we were both posting at the same time, not realizing we were both responding.

    Re: In closet?

Speaking of fire, the closet idea may not be a good one if it shares the space with clothing. That would tend to build up too much heat for the animal because it would act like extra super insulation, and could be an extreme fire hazard in case of a short or hot light bulb
