    That is very irresponsible act on your part big time. At NO time should a rat or mouse be left alone in a snakes enclosure ever when being offered live prey. This is how snakes are tore up and some times even killed due to infectious bites.


    Feed what works for you and SUPERVISE live feedings.

    VERY dangerous. Live prey should always be supervised, as bites can and will happen. An hour is a ridiculously inappropriate amount of time to leave a rat in with your snake. Please take care to not repeat that mistake.

    As others have said, it's totally up to you. If you don't care either way, go with small rats; they have larger bones and therefore are higher in calcium than mice.
