Quarantine period is when new animals in your collection are kept apart from your established animals. The main point of it is if your new animals has any health issues or parasites (such as mites) your other animals will not be exposed. Most people quarantine for between 2-6 months.
One big reason for it is mites. You many not see mites on your new animal, but you won't be able to see the eggs.

Not only mites, but also Respitory infections, viruses, god forbid IBD, and parasites. It's always a good idea to quarentine any new animal, no matter what.

I quarentine for 6 months, and if I acquire a newer animal partway through the quarentine, the time period starts over(unless I have a 2nd area to use to quarentine the newer snake in).

it's basically everything they said but the main reason is so that you dont infect the rest of your collection with mites if your new pic up has some...
