It's not -20 degrees in the cargo area. It's temp controlled and pressurized just like the rest of the plane. They carry pets down there all the time. They couldn't do that if they weren't controlled. But I would NOT recommend trying to sneak a snake into your suitcase!!! They would be at an extremely high risk of death or serious injury. And trying to sneak one onto a plane at all is just asking to lose the animal.

Vendors at the big shows are well aware that customers may be flying in, and are usually prepared to be ready to ship your purchase to you.
