    You don't have an extra room to put them in? I have 6 cats and they either go into my bedroom or downstairs in the basement play room when they big guys are being handled. I don't worry so much when I have my corns out and my beardies actually get along great with my cats(Tequila will actually fall asleep in my 21lb cat's fur) but the big guys I keep away from the cats. Heck you could even put them in the bathroom if it's just a short handling session.

    if i had a big boa i would either keep it in my room or a spare room that has a door that can be closed when taking the snake out.
