    I think a better solution would be to have a sub-forum where the OP can edit his posts. That way he can reserve 5 posts or so (not sure what the limit is on post length around here) and just edit them as needed to make updates. Then people can still reply in the same thread, and all the clutch related info will still be right at the beginning.
