everyone else in the league could use the same boards you cant blame the wings for the fact that pitt chose not to.

There is a huge amount of young talent in the NHL right now which has made the league exciting but we see the child mentality on the ice as well. The Blackhawks are the youngest team in the NHL, made it far in the playoffs, but acted like idiots because of their age.

Give it time and these kids will be much more likable.
the diff with the hockey greats that had rough starts and syd are they had to earn the right to be a household name they werent shoved down our necks when they had done nothing but whine.

    Re: Stanley Cup

i agree 100%... especially when you consider that guys like zetterberg entered the league as a nobody, yet they are clearly better than crosby at every facet of the game... better offense, better defense, better leadership... i mean, what kind of captain slashes the guy who's matched up against him out of frustration??

in the end, those outside pittsburgh, and the crosby and/or bettman fan clubs, know that cindy is not the real deal... at least, not yet.

as far as malkin goes... yet again, datsyuk is the better player. more skilled offensively, perfect on defense, just as physical, and more disciplined overall.

Gretzky was hyped and promoted as the next great thing before he even made it to the NHL. There is no difference. I blame the league more for not showing off their other great players rather than Crosby himself. He's just a dumb kid at this point.

Zetterberg was taken 210th in the 99 draft which was one of the worst drafts ever. There was an article about it recently in the Hockey News. Alot of scouts and GM's lost their jobs for overlooking that guy. As for the slashing, every team goes after their opponents injuries. My favorite part was watching Detroit put up 3 PP goals in the second period instead of retaliating. That was good stuff.

    Re: Stanley Cup

Sorry Syd the Kid, your name isn't on the cup for a reason and that reason is that you have to play the REAL sports dynasty.

How does Hossa not deserve a cup and Malkin and Crosby do?
I understand Pittsburgh fans are salty that Hoss left but c'mon, he's playing for less money even. He wants to win and Hoss is better with 1 hand on the stick than anyone in the NHL and even Crosby and Malkin's lovers Barry Melrose and Gary Bettman will admit that.

I'm not taking anything away from the skill of Crosby because I've played against the kid in my younger days and his team trounced us 13-2 and Crosby had 8 of them and I can't take away that Evgeni Malkin is a good player despite the fact that I hate him. All I'm saying is once again it's going to come down to experience and skill as a team and when it comes to that... NO TEAM IN SPORTS even holds a flame to The Detroit Redwings!

Good luck Pitt fans, but once again the cup stays in HOCKEYTOWN! Go Wings!

For now, most of that holds true, but as everyone knows most of the wings are old and probably not long till retirement. I think that'll devastate the team. But they will always be know for how good they were, just like any other team. And The Miami Dolphins were better than the wings, they went undefeated (as im sure you know)

for years the wings have been one of if not the oldest team in hockey and have had the cup 4 of the last 11 yrs and been in the hunt all of them.

Detroit is regarded throughout sports as the best run organization for their system used in developing young players, making timely and smart trades, free agency, and coaching. This includes not just North America but also Europe from everything in the minors to the pro level.

The point you're making was stated when Yzerman retired. The Wings haven't skipped a beat. The team is stocked and will be contending for years.

exactly the wings have been known for years for finding players that everyone has over looked and them becomeing what looks to be future hall of famers. and you can almost say that when stevie went to the front office the wings stepped it up a notch. (not saying he was holding them back by any means)

Also Mike Illitch does what most owners don't do. He spends the money when he needs to.

Not taking away from the Dolphins but...
The dolphins also only played once a week and a total of what 22 games tops? That's a little different than playing 80+.
