I may have to redo my wiring that i have already done now.
sorry for the late reply
i think i got them at lowes, their 5 dollars cheeper there than home depot for some reason, but both stores have them.
well a timer is just a electronicly controled relay, it has a hot and neutral wire for the electronics to operate and then it also has a switch leg, and the ones i got also have a 4th "remote" wire that allows you to set it up to be used as a 3 way switch by turning the relay on or off. but for what we would use it for, we wouldn't need the 4th wire.
from the switch leg you go to the hot side of all your outlets that you want on the timer, the timer will turn power on and off to the outlets. i also have my day time lights on the timer.
o and also i should mention, depending on your circuit breaker size according to code you can have too many outlets on one circuit. don't qoute me because i didn't look it up, but a guy at work told me for a 20 amp breaker its 13 outlets, but look it up for yourself to be sure. my reptile room is on 2 20 amp circuits

Dear lord, this is a bright room! But it looks amazing! Nothing like bright colors to attract attention.

Just a note on the info above. You are correct in that those switches were bought at Lowes. I have used these switches for about 6 years now, and the ones from Lowes are superior to the ones at Home Depot. The ones from home depot have a different type of relay in them, and seem to have problems turning on flourescent lights, due to the ballast needing a bit of a surge to start. Since I have switched to the commercial switches from Lowes, I haven't had a problem at all.
Just a tip for those in the market,

Sweet! There is nothing cooler than your very own reptile room. And it's so much easier to maintain the temp and humidity of a single room rather than in hundreds of seperate cages. Your life is about to get a whole lot easier! Nice job. And I love the colors.

Just a tip for those in the market,
both store sell the exact timer i got (lowes was cheaper), get anything intermatic and you should be fine, home depot likes to sell knock off brand of just about everything tho so watch what your buying.
my flourescent lights turn on right away, no flickering or warm up time, so im quite happy with em.
good to hear their working 6 years later lol
