    Is this weird?

I have a 1 1/2 year old ball python (600grams by 3 feet), I have it since 2 weeks, I offered food twice and he refused it.

Now I found a poop in his cage...

Is it normal for balls to poop that much after they've fed? does it mean that it was fed quite recently? and maybe it refused food since it was still digesting it?

    Thanks

    Re: Is this weird?

Wish I could help ya but I'm rather new at this. I can tell you that mine has pooped twice since his last feeding. I have tried to feed him twice since then and he hasn't eaten. So maybe it is a digesting thing.

    Good question

It takes them much longer to digest their food than you think. For every 4-5 meals, my snakes will poop once, maybe twice if they feel like it. That being said, they will eat a second, third, or fourth meal while still digesting the first.

The food refusal is most likely due to something else, not the digestion.

Is this a male by any chance?

And as long as it's not runny, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I swear my bp doesn't even poop, it just appears in the tank.

    yes it's a male,

    and no it's not runny,

there were around 7 small 'beads' (some brownish, some yellowish or whitish) and the newspaper underneath them was wet, i guess it was urine.

    Thanks,

and sorry for the revolting description of the faecal matter

the yellow and white droppings you see are urates snakes use alot more of their food than we do so have alot less waste

the solid white/yellow is just a solid form of urine called urates. its basically super concentrated pee with no water, they expel extra liquid waste in the form of actual urine. its an adaptation to prevent too much water loss, but in captivity they get as much water as they want so they produce both.
