Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
I like all snakes, though I don't want anything bigger than a ball python or a corn snake or hog nose, I am not into giant snakes FOR MYSELF as a pet. But they're amazing looking!

It's TOTALLY unfair to classify all pythons by referencing just BPs and Burms.
The great thing about pythons is they span the whole spectrum from small to big, slow to fast, skinny to fat, dumb to extraordinarily aware of their surroundings.
Ground pythons, tree pythons, semi-arboreal pythons..
Display snakes, handler snakes, breeding project snakes, pet snakes..
Pythons have the whole package.
That isn't to say that boas don't have a huge variety, but please don't classify pythons as just "BPs and burms"!!

Most popular ones then.
And this site is about BPs anyway.
So of course I'll use them.

Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
Pythons are my favorite, but not ball pythons. I love all three for many different reasons but my absolute favorite are medium pythons. (8-12 ft)
Macklots are amazing, as well as carpet pythons. I love long, thinner pythons because they have a bigger appeal to me than larger boas do. I love boas, but they are much more expressive of their power (in my experience) and a bit more difficult to handle (they like to wrap and squeeze more).

Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
Man that is hard...
I normally see boids most into rescue. I have worked with more python species then anything I'd have to say. I also haven't seen much of a difference in personallity between corns, kings, milks etc Now that is just my opinion on who I have worked with over my time of doing rescue. (I always love the hoggies thou).
I like boas but all I ever really see and work with are BCC & BCI's. I have loved the tree boas that I've seen and sand boas always interest me.
But I'd have to say pythons, morelia species ecspecially, would have to be my favs.
But I love the variety in the end.

Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
Pythons cause they're just so darn gorgeous.
Colubrids because the diversity is amazing and they can be pretty entertaining to watch.
I am not huge on boas but hey that could change.

Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
All depends what you're looking for. I think python has a prettier range of species as far as morphs, colors and such, i.e. Retic, Burm. I like boas because I love the Anaconda sp. They are a beautiful species, and are gorgeous and my yellow is my world. I like colubrids because to me they have the best umm lets see how to word it... "personality?" of any snakes. I find them more active, and seeming to say a little bit more intelligent? <---I'll probably catch heat for that one.
