scale issue
My albino male has certain areas on his body where his scales seem to stand
straight up. Is this a sign of anything bad. It is not really bad but it does
make me curious.
Anyone ever experienced this before or know what this could be??

Re: scale issue
Occasionally when I am handling my BP when she's nearing a shed some of her scales will "ruffle" and turn the wrong way, but they always go back. Do you have any pictures? Could it be a few bits of a shed, maybe?

Re: scale issue
Is it possible the snake backed up through a narrow opening? Especially something with edges that could snag the scales? Maybe some got bent backwards from doing something like that?

Re: scale issue
Cant really get pictures its hard to see on camera and I'm pretty sure hes in
shed(hard to tell hes albino) but no it doesn't seem like some bits of shed. It
seems more like what jlc said as if they are BENT backward/straight up. And I
don't think the hide could have done that, but it seems like somehow he
managed to bend them??

My BP (Delilah) has a spot like that on her side, from when she tangled herself up in a light wire... it was secured to the cage, but she somehow managed to break it loose. Dumb - or smart? - snake! I had to help her get free, and she scraped a few scales in the process. So maybe it was something similar? I'll see if I can find a picture where it's visible, and you can compare if it looks like yours.

Re: scale issue
My boa has it in several areas, I believe its just areas that get folded when they curl up or whatever.

As soon as she's digested her mouse (she just ate), I'll get a good picture for you! I looked through the pics I already have, and you couldn't see it in them.
