Stop comparing dogs to this its annoying. THere is only one species of dog and that is canis lupus familiaris breeds are selectivly bred animals from ONE species to produce different traits for use in hunting, herding, protection, etc. Please stop comparing apples to oranges.

That being said, if you notice, I also said I would not own a hybrid ball/burm/carpet, yet I have no problem eating a hybrid. I have no problem owning ferrets. It SHOULD be black and white, while even in my mind it is not. I have no reason as to why this is. I am just stating stating my observations in the matter.

It looks like you're using a different definition of the term 'Hybrid'. The offspring from a blood python and a ball python is a hybrid between different species. Domesticated cattle may be from different breeds or bloodlines, but they're all the same species. They're all descended from the Auroch which was an ancient breed of wild cattle that became extinct in the 1600's

I've read most of the replies here and i have a question.. What about naturally occurring hybrids? (because natural hybrids DO exist). I've seen a lot of them in birds, specifically water fowl, but there are other hybrid species too.

    what about those?

If it happens in "nature" is it okay? should we hate it? should we like it?

Personally, i like hybrids. I like wolf mixes, coyote mixes, hybrid cats, hybrid birds, hybrid reptiles, and more. I think they are absolutely fascinating.

wow alot of bickering here. Instead of argueing so much just accept there are two sides to this. I doubt it but Has there been hybrids from 3 different species as in a superball crossed with a woma or carpet? Good luck with the arguements though.

Many interspecies hybrids in nature turn out to be infertile so they are a dead end. The only problem that I have with snake hybrids is that most of them are fertile and capable of producing more hybrids and that's where the problem lies.

I've seen a number of times where breeding two sibling hybrids together you produce an extreme wide variety of looks, from animals that look exactly like either one of the original pure species to a complete mix. There is no way to predict what will happen, and my concern is that one of the animals that looks like a pure bred (which no matter what they look like is still a hybrid because they still contain many thousands of genes from another species) will be sold as a pure animal and end up in someones collection mucking up their breeding projects.

This has actually happened to me where I got a pair of interesting looking pine snakes. When I got offspring from them it was apparent that they were actually hybrids and they pretty much ruined my pine snake project.
