    Husbandry

I was wondering.... I only have 8 bp's right now and I can see that the more snakes you have the easier it starts getting to give 100 percent of your care and love to each and every individual snake. And well I was just curious for those of you that have in upwards of 30 bp's. How do you give each and every bp it's own personal needs... ie. if you have 30+ bp's and you try to tend to all there needs, but sometimes you cant really get to all of them like one time you might miss shed being started. So just curious are you all really on top of your game that much that you can give individual and specific needs to each and every bp, or do you set all heat humidity etc... at the same, then if you spot a shed, you spot a shed and do as needed. Or are you on top of the situation so much nothing is ever missed?

    Re: Husbandry

I only have two snakes but I assume most people here who have a lot of snakes check on them daily. That would include spot cleaning, filling water bowls etc.

If a BP is going into shed, they are going into shed. The only thing you do during a shed is take it out when they are done. There isn't much to it

Most people who have a lot of snakes use a rack setup. These make it easy to keep a large number of snakes in enclosures that all have the exact same husbandry setup. There really isn't much snake to snake difference in husbandry.

I hope this sorta helps XD

    Re: Husbandry

what I am trying to say is do those of you with 30+ snakes, do you just keep the humidity and temps all the same and if a bp is in shed. Hopefully it will shed ok because I know people with alot alot of bp's cant check every snake every day. Thus, you may miss a shed.

    Re: Husbandry

I have a few snakes and yes I do miss when some of them go in shed however since their husbandry is on spot it is not an issue, I mainly get perfect sheds and all I need is to collect the shed skin left behind.

And in case there is a stuck shed issue which is rare here is what I do http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...97&postcount=1

    Re: Husbandry

I have about 50 snakes currently(and lot of eggs) and I keep my snake room climate controled with a humidistat on a large humidifier to control humidity and a heater on a thermostat to control room ambient heat. All I need to do is pull open a tub and check to see who need cleaning and/or water and feed weekly.

I also have a AC unit on a tsat in case the room gets too hot (I keep Bearded Dragon enclosures in the room too). Where I live it can be in the 100's and bone dry for long periods of time but my snakes would never know

These snakes are actually real easy to take care of IMO. The rats are the ones that need more daily attention.

    Re: Husbandry

I don't do anything different with a shedding snake either. My snakes all have perfect sheds just about every time.
I do check every snake(40), every day, visually. The rack system is controlled overall, or I control the room temps overall.
I usually can see how many rats I'll need on the weekly feed day, by checking to see who is in shed, etc. It's not totally necasary to check every single day, but I haven't got anything else to do after work... lol.

But what do you do during breeding season. Do all your snakes go through a temp drop and less day time. Because I know it is not possible to have 5 tubs be at lets say low 80's and then the tubs in the same room to be at lets say 92, and also the night time extension, cant only be done with a couple tubs that are in the same room as all others. Just cant be done SO!! What does everyone do??????

    Re: Husbandry

Easy, you can put all the breeders in certain racks, and set THOSE racks at a diff temp. Or you can put breeders in lower racks, and non breeders in upper racks, when you are controlling room temps.
