Well i suggest you leave it alone for a few days because it sounds like its stressed out from everyone messing with it.If it has not eaten the pinky you left with it i suggest you wait until Wednsday before trying again.Since its a small baby everything around it is possibly going to eat it(in its eyes) so place it in a small bowl with a lid and some holes with the pinky(on wednsday).Leave the container in a quite place for a hour.If it does not eat then let me know as i have a few more "tricks" to hopefully get it to eat.Now it still could die and yes you did put your other snakes in jeapordy.Corn snakes have some disease(i cant remember what its called but it starts with a c maybe blueapplepaste will fill in this part) that does cause them to die.I am not trying to freak you out just letting you know being the nice hearted person you are with snakes can be dangerous at times.If the snakes have something you have no means of protecting your snakes from it.Please keep us posted.

Thank you. I don't want to touch it anymore and let it explore the new surroundings. I'll try Wednesday as I have no deadline to get the snake back into the store. They said to work with it on feeding for a little while. I have a feeling I am just going to get too attached to it and it will stay if it eats for me. I definitely saw a lot of suggestions and I am willing to try everything I can to save it. If it dies I know I tried what I can.

I know it's definitely a risk to take in a "stray" snake as I understand the importance of quarantine. If I can move it out of my room I will do that but for now it has to be in here. I don't want to compromise the health of my new baby at all but I couldn't leave it at the store. Nobody was paying attention to it as most of our snakes at the store are juvies or adults. We only have this one baby left.

wow .... im sorry ... but to me corn snakes are emotional ... very emotional
i bought one had it for a month i bought him a partner ... one day she got away, escaped she did ... but same way its like he knew .... that boy turned on me started striking would attack anything moving really ... itz like he knew she wuznt around ... but i mean out of no where, striking me

I'm sitting here crying wondering if I could have done something to save it. I tried to take it home, get it fed, but it didn't work. I tried to make it eat.. and it's gone. I think it just..went into shock.. and died. I feel so traumatized.

The fact that you took a creature into your home and heart that the vast majority of people would reject on sight says a great deal about you. The fact that you're torn up about the passing of the snake says something good as well. The important thing to remember is, like Harm286 said, everything happens for a reason. You're a good person who tried to do what you could. Even the greatest surgeons lose a patient now and then and they've had years of specialized training. It sounds to me as if you were just in the right place at the right time to offer a little comfort to a snake that would have otherwise passed alone in the shop.

It's a sad fact they not all of them will survive no matter what we do.

Last year I only had two cornsnakes hatch and neither one ate well.

One in particular just never showed any intrest in food. I struggled with her trying everything I could think of and eventually resorting to force feeding when it became obvious she was at deaths door.

She was force fed periodically for about four months trying to do it as little as possible while trying to get her to feed on her own inbetween times.

While she pooped and P'd ok she never did seem to get any real benefit from force feeding (probably due to the stress involved ) but it did keep her alive.

Then she just started losing muscle tone and becoming really lethargic in a shockingly short period of time. In the space of 4 days she went from skinny but otherwise ok to being unable to pull herself up if held by the front third and taking at least 20 seconds to right herself when placed on her back.

By the time monday came to get to the vets she was already dead when I came through.

The male however got the idea that feeding was a good thing within a couple of months and is happily devouring as many mouse fuzzies as I care to offer him.

In the end it is a noble thing that you tried to help this little one and the sad ending shouln't put you off. No matter how we try we can't save them all.
