We have a problem feeder at the store, a young baby corn snake. It's sibling died two or 3 weeks prior as I hadn't even noticed this one was in the tank. It was hiding an awful lot. It is an Anery Charcoal exactly like mine but of course it's pretty small.
I tried to feed it last week and it wouldn't eat..but my co-worker said it ate for her. I don't think she would lie about it. I tried to feed it myself this Friday but to no avail.
I know that some babies CAN go weeks without eating due to different things. I checked her for mites and I didn't see any. I checked to see if she was in shed and nothing there.
So what did I do? I asked my manager if I can work with it and brought it home. I know that it was stupid because it could have a disease, mites, or anything else that can transfer to my baby. They aren't in the same tank of course. I had an extra available to use and I placed the Under Tank Heater(as it's the only heat source available) on it.
I also placed a great log hide in the extra tank with the snake as well to feel secure.
Do you think it will eat if it is unstressed or did I stress it out by bringing it to another environment? I just felt like I couldn't watch it enough at the store. I felt awful about the other one dying and I didn't want to see this one go like that.
I left it a pinky mouse and I am hoping it will eat for me. I am leaving it alone right now and will continue to do so for the next few days.
Is there anything else I can do? I had no choice but the place the cage IN my room. I live in a house with roomates and they would not be happy if it was in the living room.
I don't really want to bring it back to the store, and I may end up buying it, getting it to eat for me 3-5 times and than adopt it out to someone I know.
*sigh*
Am I just a sucker for animals or what? What in the world did I get myself into....
