OMG....... Frustrated!!!!!!!!
I know that when you are putting a female through her breeding cycle you need to QT which involves keeping her out of smelling distance of all males. But what I dont understand is I have seen on youtube and other places where people from bp.net and even ralph davis have tons and tons of snake racks in there room. And well I know that someone such as Ralph Davis does not have all those racks filled with just females or just males, and even if so there is no way to keep the females out of smell range in just that room he has.
Also I see him and others breeding there bp's inside a tub that are surrounded by all the other bp's. So is it absolutely necessary to keep the females you are putting in there cycle away from the males? Because like I said, when you have a room such as Ralph Davis it is close to impossible to keep them separated. I'm sure that you do just what the others do and pair the male and female together in a rack that is surrounded by all your other bp's. So how do you go about keeping your females out of smell range from your males or do you do it at all.
I'm trying to keep my females separated from my males but I dont have a garage so I have two rooms in my house so I can keep my females away from the males. I am sooo confused so I understand if you couldn't really understand what I was trying to ask. But if you did understand........... PLEASE HELP!!!!! oh and try not to be to hard on me, I did try researching. Couldnt find exactly what I needed, just alot of bush beating.
P.S sorry about the long post, just so confused

Re: OMG....... Frustrated!!!!!!!!
I've never heard of QT the males from the females during the breeding cycle.. where did you hear this information?
I guarantee this doesn't happen with big breeders, nor have I seen it with many breeders on here at all.

I just talked to heather from heathersherps. She cleared everything up for me. And I have asked people on this site before and have gotten the same answer from alot of people about keeping the females QTed from the males at least 5 months before cycle starts and i have also gotten PM's from people saying what you just said. And well thought I better be safe then sorry. But I finally put 1 and 1 together and thought what would ralph davis do and well thought... There is no way to keep them separated. I'm glad I am cleared up. Now I can give my dad his room back Thanks

I would think having them in the same room would start to get them in the mood.
The only thing you have to worry about with smell as far as I know is getting the eggs smell out of EVERYTHING, otherwise the female may not go back on feed.

My incubator is in the same room with my females, that's not an issue. It's getting the egg smell off of her and out of her enclosure.

Chlorhexidine
Or 10% bleach solution...
Wash the females in a gentle soap and lots of rinsing, and bleach out the tub, throw out all of the substrate and replace it.

I think any new snake should be quarentined completely out of the area... but not a previously quarentined snake that has passed quarentine.
For breeding, I never seperated anyone out of the room.
