Hr669?
Is this some joke? I'm mean I don't hear about it on the news or anything? I mean if the government DOES pass this I think they would know how screwed up society would be. And if it DOES pass I still think there will be breeders and stuff... I don't know I just think everyone (even on fish forums) is making this thing a bigger deal then it really is

Please don't dismiss this. If you haven't read the bill, you have no idea how badly it's written.

GO watch the video. It's real, and you should be doing your part to prevent this! According the the bill, there will be NO breeding, or selling, or trading! Don't assume that your favorite pet will be exempt after the fact.

What would lead you to believe that its being blown out of proportion. The bill specifically says that if passed the possession, breeding of, sale of, trade of/for, or transportation across state lines is illegal.
So..No...There would be no more breeders it would be a federal offense to do so. Its not being made a bigger deal that what it is. It just seems that way because we understand the gravity of the situation.

I know it's no joke. But look at all the illegal music/movies/drugs people do without getting caught. Anyways if it does get pass...does the US know that another war will be brought up?

The difference would be if they outlawed the production, sale, or ownership of movies or music that wasn't deemed to be polka or yani by the government..How would that effect the music and movie industry you'd still have the odd few that would go underground but the mainstream industry would die overnight. The econmey would take a major hit, people would be out of work.
And besides 1:3 households in the US currently has at one time owned or owns an animal on that list of "To Be Banned"
Those stats don't even work if you combined the pirated movies/music or illegal drug use.

Hey Ed, can I get a look at this 'to be banned' list?
I haven't seen it yet, just heard it.

If this passes there goes the world economy..How soon did the world economy start to nose dive because they relied so much on the spending power of the US buyer.
Think of what would happen if you overnight removed 50 billion dollars from circulation in the world.

This would be easier there are over 10,000 species listed so unless you own one of these
(Felis catus), cattle or oxen (Bos taurus), chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus), dog (Canis lupus familiaris), donkey or ass (Equus asinus), domesticated members of the family Anatidae (geese), duck (domesticated Anas spp.), goat (Capra aegagrus hircus), goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus), horse (Equus caballus), llama (Lama glama), mule or hinny (Equus caballus x E. asinus), pig or hog (Sus scrofa domestica), domesticated varieties of rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), or sheep (Ovis aries), or any other species or variety of species that is determined by the Secretary to be common and clearly domesticated.
Then its on the chopping block

1. This is very serious and real.
2. There are millions of Americans in jails and prisons for simple drug possession.
3. There aren't people out there publicly advertising or selling drugs or bootlegged copyrighted material, because they would be raided within a week, just like a breeder would be if they continued to breed reptiles after a bill like HR669 passes.
4. Our government loves wars like the ones you speak of, because, to paraphrase the drug czar under Clinton, these wars are forever fundable.
