If you live in AK, AZ, CA, CO, LA, MD, MI, NH, NJ, SC, UT, VA, WA, WI, or WV, or American Samoa, Guam, Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, or Virgin Islands, then it may be YOUR representative who is on the subcommittee in charge of HR 669.

YOU need to check if your representative is on that subcommittee, and if so, we really need YOUR help getting the word out. Please work extra hard on contacting everyone you know, and all the pet stores, veterinarians, etc in your area. Make sure the people you talk to understand they are the ones who need to call & email, because it is their rep who has the power to kill HR 669 on April 23. These are the representatives that really need to hear our voice.

Even if it isn't your representative, you may be in a situation similar to me. My representative isn't on the subcommittee, but I live very near the district border, and my bordering district is the one in VA whose representative is on the subcommittee. So I'm focusing my efforts in the neighboring district, as far as getting the word out. Of course when I call in, I have to call my representative.

BTW, Colorado and Louisiana each have 2 reps on that subcommittee.

The easiest thing is to go to:
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/findyourreps.xpd

Enter your zipcode, and you'll get the names of your 2 senators (those aren't as important for now), your representative (that's the one that matters), and also a map of the district your rep represents. Compare the name of your representative with the list I'll put at the bottom of this post. If your rep is on that list, then get to work! You can use the map of your district to make sure you are staying within the district with your efforts.

If your rep isn't on the list, you could enter the name of the rep(s) in your state that is on the list, and see if their district is close enough to you that you could go to their district and work on getting the word out there.

As far as ideas on what to do, there are plenty on nohr669.com, as well as in the various posts in this forum, so I won't bother repeating them all here. If you need more help, just ask!

I should add that if you live in one of these districts, it is extra important that you not only do what you can to get the word out, but of course email & call your rep, and try to arrange an in-person meeting with the rep or at least an aide.

Going to their local office & hand delivering a hand written letter is something that would also probably have a big impact, although I'm guessing on this one, and the others are words that I'm passing along from other who know more than me.

If you live in the district of one of these reps, please get out there this weekend and get the word out! Get people to call and/or email their reps!

Oh....and when you talk to anyone that enjoys freshwater fishing.... Let them know that they will not be able to buy crickets at the bait shop if this bill passes.... That got the attention of a lot of people that I know in my neck of the woods in good ole LA. Someone should really go posting on recreational fishing forums if possible.
