mixing heating elements on one t-stat

Just wondering if its possible to run , say a UTH and a heat lamp off the same thermostat? For some reason i would think the different power draws between the different heaters would cause a problem. I don't know musc about electrical devices and i wouldn't try it until i researched it enough.

If they are two completely seperate devices, I would run one of them (my guess, the lamp) through a dimmer and then through the thermostat. That way you have some individual control over the temp. The probe would be placed on the heat mat obviosly.

That's how i have mine, except my flexwatt is on the dimmer. Works alright for now.

Running 2 heating elements off one t-stat by having one on a dimmer should work reasonably well. I believe it has to be the on/off kind of t-stat. Something about running something through 2 dimmers doesn't work properly, and the proportional t-stats are just dimmers that are automatically controlled.

However, since it would have to be on on/off t-stat to work properly, I wouldn't want to be using it with a heat lamp. I think that the light turning on & off might be stressful to the snake.
