Fearing the worst for my BP, I jumped up and made my way to his enclosure. It was 63 degrees in his hide and he felt like a pop cycle.
I grabbed him up and took him straight to my wife, who was still in bed. She put him under her night shirt, and held him against her bare body, in an attempt to warm him up. It worked. She held him there until 8:00 AM, until we could move him to a family member's house who still had power. You might be wondering why I didn't try warming him up myself...
Well, it wouldn't have worked. I'm that guy who is always cold. Cold hands, cold feet, you know. My wife Jan, on the other hand is always warm. And she knows it. So when I handed her my BP she knew exactly what I needed her to do, and she did it without question. Jan, you are the best and I love you very much!

I just wanted to share our story. Thanks for reading.

I, my BP and my schnauzer made it through by stoking up our fireplace and sleeping together in a sleeping bag. My schnauzer was very comfortable sharing the bag with a full grown BP and, although I was never sure it wasn't the BP that snored so loud, we all made it through just fine.

Your dog and your snake slept together?

I'm fairly certain if I tried that with any of my snakes + my kitty... One or the other would definitely be dead by morning... Really not sure which one though.

Fine, give me a hard time. Well, what was I supposed to do. Let my dog and my snake freeze? I had no power and no where to go. I had my BP under my top and my dog was at my feet. I kept them both warm and safe. If that is irresponsible, so be it.

I was referring to have the snake AND the dog in the same sleeping bag.

From what I understood from your post was that the dog and the snake were like, touching each other if you know what I mean.

    Sorry for misunderstanding.

Re: I'd like to take a moment to brag on my wife, Jan.

In winter whenever I transport a snake, I have started keeping it in my downfill next to my chest or stomach (in a bag of course).

Works like a charm and whenever I get the snake home it is nice and toasty warm.

Nice that the story had a good ending, and good on your wife.

Re: I'd like to take a moment to brag on my wife, Jan.

I was trying to make light of a similar situation. I don't know if any of you were affected by the Storm of the Century in 1993. It was considered the perfect storm. The full facts are, it hit totally unexpected, came in the middle of the night, was of hurricane strength and actually brought snow to north Florida in March. I lost power, my satellite dish and tower, my chimney, the top of my car port, and a bunch of trees. I couldn't get off my property for two days due to down trees and power lines. I had to keep myself, my schnauzer and my BP warm using one fireplace in freezing temps. As a poor UF student, I used what I had which was a sleeping bag and firewood. Since we all made it, I think I did rather well.
