    Poor Shadow :(

I went on a solo camping trip Tuesday with my little family dog Shadow. I was supposed to come back Friday. We had a really nice hike-in site and were having an awesome time. Last night around 8:30-9, I took him on a walk to the main campground just to scope things out. As we were walking past someones site, their dog sprinted out at us and attacked my little 11 year old lhasa apso/poodle. I tried to block its path but it pushed past me and had him by the neck.. It took 3 grown men and dog training spray to get it to release him. That stupid dog ripped its rope in half going after Shadow... Yet the owners say that it was a completely new behaviour, which I think is bull seeing as they had the spray and dogs don't all of a sudden become prey reactive. Anyways, after calling the police (since the park warden wasn't there), I had to quickly pack up my tent and drive 1.5 hours to the nearest animal hospital. On the way, I of course had the joy of hitting a deer and not only killing it and flinging the dog into the glove compartment, I also ruined one of my lights and dented my hood. By 2:30am Shadow was prepped for surgery and my poor little angel was under general anesthesia for an hour. I'm so shaken up right now, it was the crappiest night ever. I swear the world was just smiting me for having too much fun this summer.

Since I know some of you guys will be interested, here are pics the vet took of the wound (**graphic**)

They had to remove that middle flap of flesh because it had already started to go black and was no longer viable.

    Showing how deep it was.

    Chicks dig scars, right?

All drugged up on the way home.

They said that the laceration is just the tip of the iceberg, and that the skin is pulled away from the muscle and it's like a big cavern everywhere where his skin is dyed yellow from the iodine... I feel so bad for him :'( I've been calling him Drippy since he's got fluids dripping from a drain

I just wanted to vent to you guys-- I feel all loopy after the last 14 hours.
