My mother was always petrified of snakes. I didn't get my first snake until I went to college. In the end it was well worth the wait, for sure. I did spend a lot of time trying to convince them to let me have one when I was younger, but it never worked out for me.

Sadly, when you live with the parental units, you play by their rules. If they allow you to get a snake just make sure that you care for it properly so that they never have to. The last thing you want is for them to use the snake you want so badly against you! Secure/proper caging is a must it looks like you're doing your research, so you're already on the right track.

Hopefully you can work something out with them so that you don't have to wait until you move out like I did!
