permits?

how would i go about getting a permit for BP's ... i know it varies from state-to-state,i live in De, but if someone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it

i didnt know you had to have permits for bp's anywhere, its just a bp. my guess is fish and wildlife might know what to do.

most states do not have any laws restricting owning pythons, a few exceptions are places that restrict owning LARGE pythons, or those that have established themselves in the wild(I assume florida has laws regarding burms for example)

your state's fish and wildlife or department of natural resources or whatever they decide to call themselves should know, like hawiianice99 said If there are restrictions, they are likely the ones who issue permits as well. Most likely the kind of permit you will need to own an animal that is generally "banned" statewide will cost you a pretty penny.

A note: check local city/county/homeowners asscociation rules and regulations as well, that is where you will find the majority of laws that prohibit something as harmless as a BP. I think san francisco for example doesn't allow any constrictors. Jerks.

If there is a ban or restriction on exotics, due to other concerns such as public/individual safety and other factors, DNR would only have basic knowledge if any. You'd need to go to your local USFW for anything regarding regulations and permits when dealing with exotics.

Not all states has a Fish and Wildlife department. In MN, that is entirely encompassed by our DNR.. I just didn't know DE's various departments

Werll i can answer this the best since I am from delaware and I have already gotten the premit ( even if it was back in 1995) you needot contact the Department of Agriculture and request the app.. When I did mine I had to have a pic of the cages ( atthetime i building it ) and a 25 buck fee. it takes about 6-8 weeks..
they have a couple different types the single animal ( which goes when te snake sold or given up ) I breeder( which I have since i have multi snakes (now ) and am hoping to do some light breeding in the future. and 3rdtype which wsa for mutli snakes non breeder which i never bother with . Any reptiel not native to delaware requires a forgein animal premit ( outside green iguana to my knowledge. ) also need any help contact me I will help any way possible.. I do reptile rescues as a hobby since i am disable ..

Sometimes its not a state law, but just a county law. In texas, they're legal, but in the county I go to college...the pet laws are a mess. It technically says no "constrictors," but as I worked in a pet store, I know exactly what is and isn't allowed. Corns/milk/king/bull snakes, good, and anything else is outlawed. However, you can buy a permit for the giant snakes at walmart, but there is no way to obtain a permit for those in the middle, such as balls. Wierd as it may be, I know this from experience...before deciding to get a ball and break the law, I tried to get a permit and was told theyre just not allowed.

For some reason, there are just a small amount of snakes that are not legal, and there is no way to get a permit. Some places will be like that, and you just have to be careful if you decide to get one.
