Spring is here.
The snakes are all becoming more active.
Three of the four cages had some form of activity.
The Royal (top) is showing interest in feeding.
The Bredli (center) is eating in this picture
The Barranquilla boa (bottom) is in the process of shedding here.
It was moonlight hour so the photos are pretty blued out but you can see the Bredli on his perches.
This is another shot of the Bredli.
The 6 foot cage was pretty quite as the coastal had eaten a jumbo rat about 5 days earlier. She was digesting so I didn't bother her.

Yay, spring!  I know because my Texas longnose snake has taken 2 meals so far, after refusing all food for the winter months as he does every year. I don't brumate him, & he loses some weight in the winter too, but apparently it doesn't hurt anything- he's pushing 20 years old now. My rosy boa "caved" & ate before my longnose did- she also predictably skips some meals every winter.

Aw shucks, thanks. As far as longevity, I've had snakes live to mid-20's (25-26) years of age. But I don't know what typical longevity* is for longnose snakes, they're not commonly kept, partly because they're hard to feed. They mostly eat lizards or small snakes in the wild, but all things considered, it doesn't appear that mine has been harmed by a lifetime on mouse pinks & fuzzies instead. (*I'm guessing mine is pretty old at this point? Anyone else keeping them???)
