I’m gonna look into how snake safe. Thx. I’ve been using polysporin triple

Just for future reference, do you think Neosporin or triple antibiotic WITHOUT pain relief would be okay for snakes?

I believe it is okay in a small amount applied directly to the clean wound. I think that’s the same product.

Neosporin with out pain relief is ok for snakes, best just to use a small amount only on the wound, as if the neosporin gets everywhere it can cause scales to get flaky and fall off (is what I've heard).

    Oye !! Don't diss Sudacrem

It's treated like a 'go to' treatment for all manner of things ..from babies to animals .. even our vet recommends it ..

But I repeat..."with pain relief" is a NO-GO for snakes. Was this a herp-vet who recommends it? I wasn't 'dissing', just explaining why I would NOT use it ON THIS
SNAKE's WOUND...unless a good herp vet says otherwise. It sounds great for humans, but that doesn't make it safe for herps.

Yes, and a few other similar products (the names escape me at the moment) are fine for snakes too.

But just a little dab, as others mentioned. It's a petroleum-based ointment & can cause scale issues (delamination). Helps fight infection though.
(and keeping snake on clean paper towels for now is recommended too)

And to be clear, I would want a herp vet's assurance about using "New Skin" on a snake...I just seem to recall a vet using something along that line before?
(it may have been something similar but NOT that)

I plan to keep this up daily. Seems to be healed already. I’ll post up some pics when I clean her tank and really later today

Whatever you do, I would not seal up the wound with some kind of liquid bandage. Unlike a real bandage, those stay put. They seal the wound. You can't just easily or quickly take it off if a problem develops underneath.

A rodent bite means bacteria. You want to be able to keep cleaning and treating the wound. If you seal the wound, you also seal in whatever may be hiding in there, and that can end up quite nasty.

Yes, vets often stitch up big or gnarly wounds (talking about any animal here..) but they usually leave a drain in the wound for the yucks to come out. That is after they thoroughly (and then once more) flush out any wound with lots and lots of antiseptic wound cleaner. Snakes don't have liquid pus, so even if there was a drain (and I know its to small for that) it wouldn't work.

Your best bet, imho, is to keep it very clean, keep the snake on paper towels, and put some non pain relieving neosporin on it twice the day for a few days, then once the day for a couple more.

If things get worse, time for vet!

I’m thinking maybe the university as they specialize in veterinary studies.

I hope she doesn’t get hesitant on eating as she’s been a great feeder so far. Never skipped a meal and strikes quickly! She did unexpectedly eat right after the incident so that’s a good sign I think!
I took my Alice (BP) to OVC (Ontario Vet College) at the University of Guelph. I live in Erin. It was just for a "wellness" check after I adopted her, and to make sure I had a vet in the area in case an emergency ever came up. They were great.
