i'm just trying to save you a few steps and a couple headaches. that's a good idea putting paper towels in the hides. i bought medium hides for Coffee Bean because i truly forgot how small hatchlings are, and i ended up doing the same thing until i got the smaller ones in.

    how big is the tub?

It's a 28 qt tub, 24"x18"x6". Maybe the pics made him look small but he's 175 g at the moment

Make sure that tub has a lock or something holding the top properly.
If you stick to the glass one you'll want weights also.
Also you'll want to drill air holes in the tub.
What size tank was he in in the place you bought him? If he's used to a 5ft one then he might not mind.

The lid on the tub latches but will definitely need weight to keep him in, it also has (20) - 1/2" holes drilled and de-burred in the lid for vents. My 4' tank has latching tabs under the observation light to hold the plexi lids closed. Also he doesn't seem stressed out or anything, he's in his hides during the day and active at night, so all this cage talk kinda seems misplaced, the info is appreciated nonetheless

They were mostly concerned because the last we heard he was acting "restless". I'm glad he's settled into using the hides and seems calm.

yup, what donnadudette said. we see this kind of stuff play out all the time, but you're the only one seeing how your snake behaves so you have a better idea than we do. we just wanted to make sure you had all the info you needed!
