Burrowing..?

yep, they burrow. my Elphie used to do it alot when she was a bb. here's she is in one side of her side, burrow and up through a mound of substrate on the other side :

I have two hides. Not identical, but I have two. I've got the poopy log one on his cool side, which I plan to switch out soon, and his nice rock one on the right. 3/4 sides aren't covered by a dark paper or fabric, but they are backed up to the walls of my bookshelf that's holding his enclosure. Is that good enough? I thought about putting paper around it, but honestly, I'm too weak to lift up the enclosure so, I convinced myself that that'll do.

the walls sound like they should be good enough. and definitely consider an identical hide.

How often does it have to be to be considered constant? The last two night when I woke up he was doing it. He uses both of his hides, but at night will do ANYTHING to mess up the cage. I'm cleaning it on a daily basis at this point. It's almost like he wants his water to be dirty.

using the hides is definitely a good sign. does he stay in them during the day? "constant" to me would imply the snake ONLY burrows and doesn't use the hides, so it seems to be okay.

when i moved Yellow into his T8 he was stressed and would always tear up his enclosure trying to figure out where to go; he eventually settled down. this is just anecdotal, but if you include another hide and the snake still does it i wouldn't worry about it too much. snakes can be weird sometimes.

He spends most of the day in the hides. He will come out when I sit by his cage to read and plays around on his vines for 30ish minutes then goes back to hiding. during the night he is super active though.
