To-Be Owner Confused About Sizes
(New to this forum, sorry for any formatting/etiquette/etc. issues)
I ordered a heat mat, thermostat and hygrometer, since those are mostly size independent.
The ball pythons I am currently looking at are around 100g. I am not good at converting mass to danger noodle size yet.
Are the fuzzy rats large enough for him/her?
What sized tub would be good for a 100g hatchling? I see shoebox a lot, but shoeboxes come in many different sizes...
14" x 11" x 3.25" would this be too low?
13.8" x 8.2" x 4.8" this one is higher but has less floor space. Or are these sizes way off?
Also what size hides are appropriate?

glad to have you!
tiny babies like it small and they like it cramped. i think either of those sizes could work until they grow out of it, but i'd go for the taller one. just my opinion!
for hide sizes i'd go with something a little bigger than what you think is appropriate; they'll grow out of hides quickly. i really like the Reptile Basics hides because you can get a larger size and the off-center door makes it very cave-like and "secure."
rat fuzzies would be okay for a little bit but you'll move up to rat pups and bigger in no-time.

I think the second tub size sounds a bit better. You want a little height in order to fit in hides/water bowl/thermometers. Your noodle will outgrow it in a few months.
Seconding the reptile basics hides. The small hide boxes should do the trick.

Fuzzies are perfect. Here's a link to help guide you along the way with prey sizing: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...ing-Guidelines.

The tubs I use for hatchlings on up to ~600 grams are 18" x 7.5" x 3.5". You're definitely in the ballpark with sizing. You can't really go wrong with either choice.
In terms of temperature gradient when you get the heat mat/thermostat set up, the two you have are basically the same length. You're not really changing anything up for the little guy when it comes to that aspect - you're basically just giving him an extra ~3" of width.
