Why do you need to look up ovulation? You got one BP that's a youngin right? You really should just enjoy the snake as it is for a long time. Breeding is not something you just dive into. You need to be prepared with housing, heating, feeding, just to mention the basics. if you are having problems with just one snake, imagine what it will be like dealing with 7 little hatchlings who you have to get eating.

Lol I haven't even read the other threads but if you were prying your snakes mouth open to look for RI and now trying to pop it to sex it and having friends try and pop it, I do feel sorry for that poor snake. You do know you can hurt them if you try and pop them the wrong way. Like I said, you need to just enjoy the snake as it is, boy or girl or whatever and put away a "nest egg" of money for if you have to take that snake to the vet because I can tell you right now, reptile vets are not cheap. I had to take Harley to the vet for light RI and after all was said and done with the medicine, it cost me $300 in vet bills.

Oh and if you aren't familiar with how to do it, I would take it to a reptile vet who is experienced with it and they can show you. Sure you have to pay but that is part of owning a pet. Buying the pet is really the cheap part. Its the housing, heating and especially feeding that gets expensive. Heck for the list of gals and my 1 little man in my sig, they run me over $100 a month in just food....I really just need to buy a mini chest freezer and order online lol.

I know nothing of females and egg laying yet, so I assumed that females will lay unfertilized eggs during their cycle? Like birds? I've never ever read up on this and haven't yet done so.

So I don't know how they act if such an event happens. What leads up to it. Decreasing/increasing temperatures. Fasting. Or how to safely remove them.

Or perhaps they are like us and it only "lay" eggs when they are fertile. (Like unfertilized eggs won't attach to the lining, where as fertile ones will and will grow.)

Pretty sure ovulation only occurs when the snake has been paired up. It's literally no different than owning a male snake.

It's like none of those things. Ovulation is literally one of the last steps in the reproductive process and one of the first/only signs that a female is for sure going to lay a clutch (AFTER she's been paired). Here's a link for you that will help clear this up.

You mentioned not being able to tell the difference btwn a black or blue eyed Lucy.

If you can't tell, I'd say it's a black eye because blue eyed Lucy's have blue blue blue eyes. Like.....blue....ice blue... my little girls are icy blue. So gorgeous!

Why would you bother to look up info on ovulating? You're obviously going to do whatever anyway.

Instead of leaving the snake alone, you've dragged it around... taken it to your friend "for safekeeping" only to haul it right back(if it ever actually went anywhere) a couple days later. Then it was forcing open the mouth, holding it out of the cage repeatedly, raising the hot spot to 100F... all against advice.

Now instead of leaving it alone to de-stress, you're taking it out to attempt 4 times to sex it, for no reason at all... then taking it to your friend(who owns reptiles but couldn't say which is was) then hauling it further to the vet AGAIN for no reason but you also got a swab taken in case it has the RI.

But it's okay because the snake is "chilling" and fine. I mean really, it's like you're just trolling the site now. You just WANT some sort of dramatics with your snake, because every couple days it's something else.

It doesn't matter what sex it is right now. You could have done 5 minutes of research OR just gone to the caresheet info on this site and found the progression of breeding instead of suddenly deciding it's urgent to probe/pop the snake that is suspected of having RI and has already been stressed multiple times during the past month with one dramatic occurrence after another. Oh wait.. I forgot that you "can't trust the advice" on this site.

Of course, you've already probably skipped over 90% of this post because it's not feeding the desire of drama and it's just "bashing and mean". Sooner or later, you're going to overwhelm the natural toughness of a reptile and the poor snake is going to roll over and die.

I might lend her over to my friend for breeding in time. She wants to work out the pattern to see if it's a morph. If it is, she's wanting a Banana or a pastel version of it.

That's definitely way down the road, I wouldn't even worry about it right now. Also you will want to get her to a certain weight before that, otherwise you could very well risk the snakes life.
