Tub Heating Problems

So, I switched my bps from glass tanks to tubs last night. The tanks held heat just fine but took up a ton of room and wouldn't maintain humidity. Now, the tubs don't hold heat. My hot spot is fluctuating between 82-84 degrees but the ambient temp is only 75. Right now I'm using uth on dimmer switches until I can afford to get thermostats and heat tape. I put aluminum tape between the tub and the pad because I was worried about it getting too hot. Idk what to do at this point. Do I remove the tape and take the chance or is it even causing the issues? Gah frustrating!

Sometimes I notice this, then I look in the bin and the probe got moved off the hotspot and was no longer right against the plastic like it should be, it tends to get pulled a around a little with the sliding in and out of the tub. Is the dimmer as high as it can go? Also as long as theres something regulating the heat so it foesnt get to hot u don't need the tape as a barrier, but I dont think it hurts any.

Yeah. It's turned up all the way. I'll have to check the prob when I get back home. Idk if that's the problem though as it's never got hotter than 85.

Foil tape is not going to change the heat output at all..............
Where are you taking your readings from and with what?
Have you tried a different dimmer? I have seen and had bad ones.

Nothing should be inside the tub unless it is an unused tub. Totally bad idea.

How deep is the substrate? How are you measuring the temps? Whats the ambient air temperature of the room the tubs are in?
