Never Fails!! Clean enclosure? GOTTA MESS IT UP!

AHH I'm back! I didn't really go anywhere but..here's the quick and dirty.

    Boyfriend was a poopyhead.
    Boyfriend dumps me/kicks me out.
Old Exboyfriend takes care of my snakes and cats.
Other animals are being babysat by various friends/family.
Stuff my entire life into a storage locker.
    Homeless for 3 weeks.
    New home found!
Moved into new place two days ago.
Moved snakes and cats in last night.

When I moved everybody I decided I was going to switch from cypress mulch (its heavy!) to paper towels.

I got all 9 BPs set up and happy and low and behold - one of my big kids had spilled her water. ALL of it. I'm like - I JUST FIXED THAT!

I cleaned it up and went to eat dinner. Came back and THREE of them had knocked it over. One of them being the girl from before! I'm like GAH-you-silly-snakes!!! I just left it, cause two are in blue and need the added humidity anyways.

Get up this morning and there was a menagerie of Poo and Pee podules waiting for me xD Couldn't you guys have done this LAST NIGHT?! BEFOREEEEE I cleaned everything?! Nope. Never.

On a side note - My cats did it too, I brought their litter pan, with used but not terribly dirty litter so they would recognize their box - put it down and added other litter, within 30 seconds, Little was all over that, making sure she was doing her best to make it as dirty a litterbox as possible.

Moral of the story; If you have a snake that wont go poo or pee, change their tub. Clean it SPOTLESS. They wont be able to resist. For added benefit - change their bedding style too (aspen to paper towels for instance).

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but glad to hear things are back to normal.

I've always said nothing makes a BP poop quicker than new substrate and a clean tub...

Definately the fastest / best way to get rid of sausage butt. Clean the tub.

This is also a good way to get litter flung everywhere, or poop in the box. Clean or add new. I feel your pain.

Thanks Slim - but it was actually one of the best things he could have done. He was making my life harder than it should have been, and even when I was homeless - life was far better.

And I'm pretty sure there is no faster method to get a snake to poo as to changing their substrate.

Definitely. I've been fortunate to not have to deal with a Sausage Butt case, but some weeks I look at my kids and go "Yes, those scales DO make your butt look big."

Definitely. My roommates are awesome, the girl is actually one of the people I sold one of the snakes too when I had to move out. So I get to see Icky all the time now! *happy*
I did have to sell a couple of others that I had no plans for, and they're in awesome homes where they can reach their full potential now. Great for them, Great for me.
Now I'm just left with the BPs I can use (except one, he is a gift for my little sister (who is already worthy of owning one, but our parents still haven't agreed she can have him yet)). Another local breeder and I are getting together and doing a co-operative breeding project with his male morphs and my female normals.
I never would have come this far if all that other stuff didn't happen. It was poor timing, but great in the long run.
