Is it just me, or do they feel different?
I was just wondering others opinion on this. It seems like albinos(to me) feel different than other guys. I don't know if it's just my mind playing illusional tricks on me because of the drastic color difference or what, but they just seem..."smoother" and softer skinned when I hold them. I've also noticed this with burms too. maybe I'm just delusional...

I have actually noticed the difference in texture as well. So, perhaps it's not just you.

Sheew! I'm not crazy!! I was theorizing that maybe their scales are just a wee bit smaller or something like that, giving them a "smoother" texture. Maybe someone will have the answer.

I have always thought that as well. maybe the scales are thinner and thus lay more flat?

Before I read your whole post I knew you was going to mention albino. I thought it was just me who notice the difference. I love all my balls but I have to admit my albino get more handling time due to that reason.

When I was talking to Louis Kirkland about purchasing my albino - that was an observation that he also made.
And together we wondered if albino's show scratches more easily because of this thinner skin (or it could be just because they're so light).
In any case, I decided I wanted my boy switched to f/t for this very reason - the thin skin and small insignificant scratches showing up more on albino's.
He's been eating f/t like a champ!
Once I got him, I could feel the difference between him and the animals that have melanin.

I too feel that the albinos feel different. Definitely smoother and softer.

I would hazard a guess that the lack of melanin is the culprit. Anyone who's hair has turned gray would probably agree that it takes on a different texture that what it was when it was a youthful color; I think the way an albino's skin feels is just a different manifestation of the same condition, no melanin in with the keratin of the scales.
Again, just a guess...

Not sure if that is the reason. I have a very pretty reduced pattern normal who has very soft skin, not at all like my others.
