I am by no means trying to start an argument, and I very much appreciate you telling about the exotic vet and your experience.
I will say, in the past I have been horrified by the thought of snakes in the freezer, but have learned (an continue to do so) that it is not as bad as a mammal in the freezer.
But given the 2 options, injection or freezing, I would choose injection hands down.
I agree, of the two, injection is quicker and easier.

It's just not always a viable option. When you deal with imports, when you have just spent all the money you had and owe the vet your next paycheck and he wants the one after that to basically kill your pet, well, do you pay the rent or do it yourself?

    Sometimes it is just cost.

Of course, it's not just money we invest. There is time we put in, cages we put together, heating and humidity issues, feedings we attempt, and all the emotions you feel that go along with a struggling snake. This must be balanced against the actual dollar value sometimes. How much is that snake really worth?

I speak from a business standpoint, which is not the same as a pet keepers. If you only have one or two snakes then the vet and expense are seen in a different light than the one I see them by.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

    You're missing her point.

Karmicly speaking she owes her snake the best death she can give it.

Economically speaking, the freezer is a better option.

I would freeze her and then take her to a vet and get a neocropsy done to just make sure it wasnt ibd. Just to make sure becuase if she had it theres a chance she might of passed it to some other snakes in your collection

    NO NO NO

DO NOT freeze it if you want a necropsy that checks for IBD. Freezing the snake will make the test for IBD inconclusive at best.

There is a lab in Washington State and another in Florida that test for IBD, you could send the body to either of those.

    Bummer situation you're in.

Sounds like you are in a bad spot. I am sure you have already, but make sure this snake is far away from the rest of your snakes.

    Re: What would you do?

If it was my snake I would find a reputable vet, have the snake put and have a necropsy done.

Yes it will cost you some extra money however if I were you I would want to know for sure what is going on in my collection, whether it is IBD or something else.
