Will my Ball Python go blind????

Okay so on my instagram account I made for my BP Ramen, someone has commented twice saying that my infrared heating bulb will make my snake go blind. Now I’m 99% sure that that’s not true, but because I like to worry about every little thing I thought I would check.

I know there’s debates about whether they can actually see them or not, and to be honest I’m not sure myself, although he does always come out to explore once it has went dark so I think that even if they can see them they can still differentiate between night and day. Besides, they’d still be able to ‘see’ a CHE or something similar because of their heat pits right?

Ramen won’t actually go blind will he

I thought it was UV lighting that affected eyesight , that's why they wear protective glasses in tanning presumably...

I thought the issue with those red lights wasn't that they could blind the snake, but the constant source of light could stress them out and mess with their circadian rhythm.

    no.

but light can be a stressor for a nocturnal snake, so i would switch to a CHE if possible.
